We have covered the Bluetooth function (check it out HERE) and the USB function (check it out HERE) of the Phenyx Pro PRX-400 audio mixer in other blog posts. The built-in USB audio interface in both the PTX-400 enables users to use the PC function for recording. This function supports the use of computers, iPads, and smartphones with compatible adapters.
We have also added an additional USB 2.0 recording jack at the rear panel of the mixer to enable the Bluetooth function and the recording function at the same time. In this article, we will show you how to record audio to your computer , iPad, and smartphone via PTX-400.
1- HOW TO RECORD AUDIO TO YOUR COMPUTER VIA PTX-400.
Plug in the power adapter, connect your signal input sources and then turn on the mixer.
Use a USB to USB cable to connect the mixer to your PC.The LCD screen will show "PC" if the connection is successful.
You can open Audacity or other recording software you prefer and select the mixer as an audio input device. For Audacity, please find the microphone icon and select the mixer in the drop-down menu. If you want to monitor the recorded audio through the mixer, please select the mixer as an output device in the speaker icon.
Select "Track", click "Add New", and press the red dot to start recording. Please note that the PTX-400 will mix all the inputs and record it as a single track (mono or stereo) in the software. It doesn’t allow multi-track recording and mixing.
You can click "File", and "Save Project" to save your recording.

Use the adapter and the USB-to-USB cable to connect your devices to the mixer. Please connect the USB cable to the adapter first. The LCD screen on the mixer will also show "PC" to indicate successful connections.
Open any recording software and start recording. You can add some personality to your mix by adjusting the EQ, gains, or 99 DSP effects.
Now, the PREV/NEXT Program knob can only be used to finish recording with a short press. The pause, previous, and next functions are disabled during recording.Of course, you can also end the recording by using the control button in the software.
Playback and monitor your recorded audio through the phone output. It is easy to adjust the volume and EQ of the recorded audio via these knobs and faders.
Click "File", and "Save Project" to save your recording.
It is important to know that you cannot use the Bluetooth function and the USB recording function simultaneously via the USB audio interface.
However, we have now added an additional USB 2.0 recording jack at the rear panel of the mixer to enable the Bluetooth function and the recording function at the same time. You can stream your favorite music in from your smartphone or iPad and then record it to your computer via the USB 2.0 jack using a USB-A to USB-A cable. It can deliver professional recording sound quality with the 192kHz/24bit sampling rate.
And then, you can stream, record, and even process the music by using some useful software such as "Audacity," "Adobe Audition," "Cakewalk Sonar," "Sound Forage," etc.
If you want to adjust the volume, please adjust the USB LEVEL knob to increase/decrease the volume level.
