PHENYX PRO Rack Case Series Installation Guide

A practical guide to using PHENYX PRO PRCSE-4U, PRCSE-6UD, PRDWR-2U, and antenna accessories to mount, store, and organize compatible rack-mounted audio gear.

PHENYX PRO rack case for organizing audio gear

Wireless microphone systems and in-ear monitor systems are widely used in live performances, church services, band rehearsals, business meetings, and mobile audio setups. As your audio equipment collection expands, disorganized gear can quickly become a common setup challenge. Loose cables, scattered accessories, repeated wiring, and channel checks can all add extra time to every setup.

The PHENYX PRO Rack Case Series is designed to help organize compatible wireless receivers, IEM transmitters, antenna accessories, cables, and smaller gear in one rack case for easier transportation and management.

This guide walks you through the basic steps to prepare your PHENYX PRO rack cases and accessories for use.

Before You Start: How Much Rack Space Does Your Gear Need?

Before installation, it is important to check your equipment quantity, device type, and storage needs. This will help you decide whether the PRCSE-4U or PRCSE-6UD is a better fit, and whether you need to reserve space for the PRDWR-2U rack drawer or front-mount antenna accessories.

Start by checking the following:

  • How many wireless receivers, IEM transmitters, or other rack-mounted audio devices do you need to install?
  • Are your devices half-rack or full-rack?
  • How much rack space does each device require, such as 1U, 2U, or another height?
  • Do the rear connectors, antenna ports, and power cables need extra routing space?
  • Do you need to store microphones, bodypacks, cables, power adapters, or spare accessories inside the rack case?
  • Do you want to move rear antennas to the front for easier access, adjustment, or cable management?

These questions will affect the installation layout. Drawer space and front-mount antenna accessories should be planned at the beginning instead of added after all devices are already secured.

Check Whether Your Gear Is Half-Rack or Full-Rack

Before choosing a rack case, check whether your equipment is half-rack or full-rack.

Half-rack devices are more compact and usually need rack mounting accessories before they can be installed in a standard 19-inch rack. Before installation, check whether your device includes rack ears, joining plates, or other required mounting parts.

Full-rack devices are standard 19-inch units and can usually be mounted directly to the rack rails. When installing them, check the device depth, rear connector position, and cable space behind the rack.

If you only need to install a few core wireless receivers, IEM transmitters, or essential accessories, the PRCSE-4U is a more compact choice.

If you need to organize multiple wireless devices, IEM systems, or want extra storage for accessories, the PRCSE-6UD with the PRDWR-2U rack drawer is a more practical option.

PRDWR-2U: Dedicated Storage for Small Accessories

In many rack setups, the main units may be mounted properly, but microphones, bodypacks, cables, power adapters, and small accessories are still stored in separate bags. This can make packing, setup, and teardown less efficient.

The PRDWR-2U is a 2U locking rack drawer that can store commonly used accessories inside the rack case, such as:

  • Handheld microphones
  • Bodypack receivers or transmitters
  • How much rack space does each device require, such as 1U, 2U, or another height?
  • Power adapters
  • Antenna cables
  • Small audio accessories
  • Spare batteries and adapters

For mobile gigs, touring, and live event setups, this drawer helps keep small accessories in one place, making gear storage, transportation, and teardown more organized.

Step-by-Step:Rack Case Installation Guides

Step 1: Plan the Rack Layout

Before installing screws, place all devices on a flat surface and plan the order based on how you will use the system. Consider the following questions:

  • Which devices need frequent screen viewing or knob adjustment?
  • Which devices have more rear connections or antenna ports?
  • Do you need to reserve space for a rack drawer?
  • Do you need front-mount antenna accessories?
  • Do you plan to add more wireless microphones, IEM systems, or rack accessories later?
  • Which devices should be easier to access for inspection or adjustment?

A common layout approach is to place heavier or less frequently adjusted devices lower in the rack, while keeping devices with screens, controls, or status indicators in a more convenient viewing position.

  • Reference 6U Layout: Wireless Receivers → IEM Transmitters → Antenna Distributor / Power Conditioner → Storage Drawer
  • Compact 4U Layout: Only core receivers, transmitters and essential accessories

Step 2: Mount the Wireless Receiver or Transmitter

Place the rack case face up with the rack rails facing upward. This allows you to lower the wireless receiver, IEM transmitter, or other rack-mounted device into the case from above and align the mounting holes more easily.

Use rack screws to secure the device to the rack rails. Start by lightly securing all four corners, then tighten them gradually after the device is level and properly aligned. Avoid tightening one screw completely before the others.

Step 3: Install Front-Mount Antenna Accessories

If the rear antennas are difficult to raise, adjust, or access after the receiver is installed, front-mount antenna accessories can help move the antenna position to the front of the rack case.

Before installation, check the receiver’s antenna connector type and confirm that the selected accessory fits your device model and installation method.

To install, connect the antenna extension cable or front-mount accessory to the receiver’s rear antenna port. Route the cable to the front of the rack case, secure the front connector, and attach the antenna.

Verify BNC/TNC or other connector specs against official product manuals to prevent mismatched connections.

Step 4: Organize Power, Audio, and Antenna Cables

After the devices and antenna accessories are installed, organize the power, audio, and antenna cables at the rear of the rack case. Clear cable routing makes later inspection, removal, and equipment replacement easier.

If the rear of the rack case becomes too crowded, check the device order, drawer position, or antenna cable routing again. When needed, reduce unnecessary cable crossing so power, audio, and antenna paths are easier to identify.

Step 5: Complete a Post-Installation Check

After installation, complete a basic check to confirm that the devices, antennas, cables, and any installed drawer are set up correctly before taking the rack case into an actual use environment.
