How to Use PC Function for the PTX20/PTX-30 Mixer

This tutorial article is going to guide you through the PC function for the Phenyx Pro PTX-20/30 audio mixer.

We have covered the Bluetooth function (check it out HERE) and the USB function (check it out HERE) of the Phenyx Pro PRX-20 audio mixer in other blog posts. The built-in USB audio interface in both the PTX-20 and PTX-30 enables users to use the PC function for recording. This function supports the use of computers, iPads, and smartphones with compatible adapters. In this article, we will first cover how to record to your computer using Audacity.

1- HOW TO RECORD AUDIO TO YOUR COMPUTER VIA PTX-20/30

STEP ONE

Plug in the power adapter, turn on the mixer, and use a USB-to-USB cable to connect the mixer to your PC. It is important to know that you cannot use the Bluetooth and the PC recording function simultaneously. The LCD screen will show "PC" if the connection is successful.

STEP TWO

Open Audacity or other recording software you prefer and select the mixer as an audio input device. For Audacity, please find the microphone icon and select the mixer in the drop-down menu. If you want to monitor the recorded audio through the mixer, please select the mixer as an output device in the speaker icon.

STEP THREE

Select "Track", click "Add New", and press the red dot to start recording. Please note that the PTX-20 will mix all the inputs and record it as a single track (mono or stereo) in the software. Neither the PTX-20 nor the PTX-30 allows multitrack recording and mixing.

STEP FOUR

Click "File", and "Save Project" to save your recording.

2 - HOW TO RECORD AUDIO TO IPAD/SMARTPHONES VIA PTX-20/30

STEP ONE

Use the adapter and the USB-to-USB cable to connect your devices to the mixer. The LCD screen on the mixer will also show "PC" to indicate successful connections.

STEP TWO

Open any recording software in your phone/iPad and start recording. You can add some personality to your mix by adjusting the EQ, gains, or 99 DSP effects. Now, the blue Program knob can only be used to finish recording with a short press. The pause, previous, and next functions are disabled during the recording to phone/iPad/Tablet. Of course, you can also end the recording by using the control button in the software.

STEP THREE

Playback and monitor your recorded audio through the phone output. It is easy to adjust the volume and EQ of the recorded audio via MP3/BT EQ knob and the blue MP3 fader. You can also use the Program knob to pause and play your recorded audio.
