We have covered the Bluetooth function of the Phenyx Pro PTX-400 audio mixer in another blog post (check it out HERE).  In this article, we are going to introduce the USB function for this audio mixer that enables you to both play and record music.

1- HOW TO PLAY MUSIC FOR PTX-400

STEP ONE

Connect your devices. And then plug in the power adapter and turn on the switch. The display screen will show "No" as default.

STEP TWO

Insert the USB drive and wait for the device to retrieve audio files. If this is the first time you use the USB drive. The audio file is automatically played from the top of the list. Otherwise, it will begin from the last audio file you played. If you want to adjust the volume, please use the light blue fader to control.

2 - HOW TO RECORD MUSIC FOR PTX-400

To activate the USB recording function, you need to make sure that there is at least one MP3 file in the USB stick. You cannot record audio to an empty drive.

STEP ONE

Press the MODE button to select the recording mode. The word "rEC" will appear on the screen.

STEP TWO

Tap the blue Program knob to start recording. You can stop or continue the recording anytime by short pressing it again.

STEP THREE

Long-press the PREV/NEXT knob to save the file when finishing the recording. The recorded audio will be added as the last song on the recording file list and automatically saved in an MP3 format.

STEP FOUR

Press the mode button again to exit the recording mode. There were 10 songs in the USB drive originally, and now as we can see, there are 11.

It is important to note that the USB function cannot work with the Bluetooth function simultaneously for this media interface. You cannot stream music via Bluetooth and record it to a USB stick via this USB port.

However, you can record it to a computer via the USB 2.0 port in the rear panel of the mixer using a USB-A to USB-B cable. The additional USB-B jack enables you to enjoy Bluetooth and recording functions at the same time. We will cover this in the PC function in our next tutorial video for the PTX-400.

We have also created a tutorial video to walk you through the process. Check it out now!
