Got the ptd10 the other day, got them all hooked up and have been working great, the bass drum took a little eq to get the thump o got out of my previous mic, I was really impressed with the overheads they sound great, to get them all for this price, in a good case, and hardware that doesn't break when putting it on( I have used other brands), it's a no brainer, two thumbs up
Well fist of all when I started mixing i was really impress that this mic kit are really worth it, I really like how it sounds and it’s a good quality mics for any decent kit like mine. As you can see in the video when I turn to my drum set I didn’t not put the top (overheads) mic neither hi hats because I was really excited to try them out but either way there shouldn’t be a problem once I start to put them on. And I’ll say any mic is a good mic just depends on how you eq it and compressing it and gating. This is my review and hopefully y'all found this helpful.
I love Phenyx Pro! Little history, I been playing music and running sound for about 30 years. I've used about every mic brand out there. The last to nights of shows I used the new Phenyx Pro drum mics. They did an outstanding job. As with an mic, you do have some EQing to taste. I did have to adjust the kick mic a bit from my standard EQ, but not much. The other mics were perfect. Sound quality is great!! The mics are very solid in construction and come in a metal case. For the money you can't beat these(pun intended). Easy to set up and use. Just a heads up, the clamps that fit the ring are tight, great thing because they won't move once you get them set. You just can't go wrong with these!
I have been playing drums for 20+ years, and these mics are the best bang for your buck out there. I received these mics, and brought them to a church I was filling in at, just to give them a try, without telling anyone I didnt use their mic kit they provide. The sound guys, worship pastor, and others on staff, but not affiliated with the musical department all asked me what I did differently, because that was the best the drums had sounded in years. I told them the only thing I did was use my mic set. They told me it was leaps and bounds better than their $3000 dollar mic set they use on any other Sunday. Keep in mind, this was without letting anyone know I was using my own mics.If that doesn't sell you on the value of these mics, nothing will. Go buy them!
?This mic set came with almost everything I needed right out of the box. 2 overhead condenser mics, 3 Tom mics, 1 snare mic, 1 kick mic, 4 rim mount clips, 2 mic clips with thread adapters, a warranty card, and all of this in a very nice metal case with foam inserts for every piece. All you'll need is cables and a mixer and you're good to go! These mics have already proved to be very versatile in the short period that I've had them. My band has them set up on our set in our practice space to be able to record all of our rehearsals. The sounds I've gotten out of these has been on par with many of the entry/mid level Shure sets that I've used in the past. If you're in the market for a new mic set and you're on a budget, look no further. You found your next set right here!
The mics sound great for the price for sure. Only downsides I came across are that the included clips don’t work on our drummer’s porkpie snare drum so I had to use a clip from a different set for it. The case is nice enough, but it’s just plastic and not aluminum like it looks.If you can’t afford better, I’d say these are the best you can get for the price.
I was pleasantly surprise by the quality at this price. Do not compare these with $3k mics though. However, I will have to return these. It may just be the unit I got but the overheads mics are delivery a constant high pitched background noise. I tried multiple cables and tried to phase them out to no avail. Also they sometimes work without phantom power in which case the high pitched background noise disappear but they will stop randomly working if no phantom power.
