Customers praised the wireless in-ear monitor system for its excellent sound quality, reliability, and value. Reviews highlighted "great reception and clarity" with "zero dropouts." The stereo separation was noted as superior to mono systems. Some mentioned occasional interference requiring frequency adjustment, and plastic bodypacks felt less durable than metal alternatives.

Pick this up as we have been wanting to try out some wireless in ears, unfortunately most of the review had to be done from home, as we have nothing scheduled over the next few weeks. The unit came packed really well and everything had its own wrapping. Though the case did have a bit of an odd smell, a bit like a can of spray paint, but it doesn't seem like the gear picked up that smell.Overall, the transmitter feels great and seems to have good build quality with a metal body. Though the body pack is left to be desired as it's mainly plastic and honestly feels cheap, like it would break on the first drop it took. Besides that, both the transmitter and receiver look great in their design. From a personal aesthetics perspective, I'm not a fan of the green led display. I do prefer white Leds more. It's great that there are included rack ears, as I've noticed that some companies tend to want you to buy these separate. It is also nice that there are extra tips for the earbuds and the earbuds themselves seem just like a normal pair of earbuds. Nothing special. My wife said they sounded okay to her, she is the singer/musician, thus the one who will be using the system in the end, and I'm the sound guy of the Duo. It's also nice that they included rubber feet for the unit if you don't want to rack mount it.With some testing I did find the sound quality to be good and clear, with a good range of volume to use. As for the wireless range, it did really well, haven't had the chance to verify their listed range and we've not yet had a chance to test the unit in a live environment, but I did put some music on and walk all around our house, and the signal was able to pass through multiple walls and rooms without any noticeable dropout. So, some further testing is needed in this area, once we are able to get it out and mix it with some other wireless gear.In the end the system was easy to get setup and to start using it. The manual was easy to follow and seemed to cover everything.

stereo or mono, noise cancellation. for what you get, its not bad, its not the best but again, look at how much you are paying for what you getrunning in stereo will get you that "hiss when silent" as others have reported but its doable as you wont hear it when sound comes throughracks up nice, transmitter and receiver links up easy. setup on the transmitter is tricky, so read the instructionspersonally i could do without the carrying case and removing this and using regular packaging would bring the price downthe included buds are junk. just get some nice over-the-ears muffs and you should be goodi do recommend this as your first iem over getting a cheaper mono system. once you go stereo, you wont want mono

Disclaimer: I received these free of charge with the request to give this item a review. The review itself was not paid for, nor did Phenyx Pro have any say in what I reported in my review.I purposely waited a few weeks (like 8), to make sure this system lasts and to try with a few environments. So, now that is out of the way, I requested to give these IEMs a review, and Phenyx Pro obliged. I have several different IEMs in my stockpile as I run sound for bands, theaters, DJs, etc. Not everyone uses monitors, let alone IEMs, but IEMs are the best way to monitor your sound or others while allowing you to keep your hearing. I use IEMs occasionally when running sound for a band so I can "solo" inputs in my headphones when I am not directly at my desk and working remotely in the crowd, on stage, in the bathroom, etc. So I have played with a few and been frustrated with a few as well.At first glance, these are pretty much like the Galaxy Pro style, just a slightly different receiver design. These are also 900MHz, not in the 400-500MHz, like most of my other gear. By having them in the 900MHz, your range is a little less, but the frequency band is not nearly as crowded and my wireless mics don't lose precious bandwidth that has happened with the selling off of 600MHz and the 700MHz bands. You just have to make sure whatever you change the transmitter to you sync it with the receiver, which is a very simple process, onto the audio. The included earbuds are almost useless, the wires are very thin and just not worth using, but that is typical in about 95% of other IEMs, especially at this price. Honestly, you should have your own personal earbuds anyway that fit you well, generic cheap earbuds are NOT worth using. Now, like with all IEMs, input source volume is very important, too low and you won't hear squat, too high and the transmitter input will distort, or the receiver will either clip or compress so bad it will be useless to try to use. On the first try, this happened t.

I lead a large 17-piece jazz band. We’re a community band with a very limited budget. Our PA is rather simple with two main speakers, and two inputs for vocals and keys. As you can imagine, a 17-piece band can be quite loud, which is problematic for our vocalist. With the main speakers doubling as vocal monitor, the struggle for the vocalist to hear herself sing is quite real.I was offered a chance to test the Phenyx Pro PTM-10 In Ear Stereo monitoring system. First, as with all Phenyx Pro products, the packaging is very nice. The PTM-10 system is housed in its own hard plastic carrying case, no need to carry around the retail package like some other products. The package includes the transmitter, receiver, antennae, batteries, earbuds, and rack mounting kit. Everything you’d need to use this product right out of the box.SETUP/TEST: Setup is extremely easy. I plugged in the transmitter, put batteries in the receiver (Bodypack), connected the transmitter to the PA, and voila, I could hear anything coming from the PA through the ear buds. The manual is nicely written. I navigated through all of the settings on the bodypack and transmitter. Changing Groups and Channels is very easy. I ran the system in stereo mode which was very nice. I did not play with the balance much as it wasn’t needed in our setup. The audio coming through ear buds was very clean. Being able to mute the body pack and adjust the volume with the body pack is a nice feature.QUALITY: The quality of all most Phenyx Products is very good. The transmitter unit is made of metal, not cheap plastic on PTM-10. Including the rubber feet to keep the unit from sliding is a nice touch. The Bodypack that came with the unit is made of plastic, but it doesn’t feel cheap. The buttons on the bodypack are responsive and very "clicky", you know you pressed the button. A nice feature is having the ability to lock the settings on the body pack so there’s no accidental changing of settings. Overall, the PTM-10 is a well.

I recently was able to check out the PTM-10, and I was VERY impressed! I have gotten a number of different products from Phenyx Pro and have not been disappointed yet. I like that it comes in its own carrying case (I own the hard case they sell for the wireless systems I bought, and that is great as well), which I appreciate as I don't have to form any new foam to carry it to and from gigs. It also comes with adapters if you want to mount them in a rack, but for this particular case I kept it loose. Our church uses Sennheiser IEMs for our Praise and Worship Team (whom I have been working with for about a year now), and I think the PTM-10 actually rivals them! With the Sennheiser, there are "dead spots" on our stage that can throw our team off from time to time, but with the PTM-10 I did not have that problem at all. During rehearsal, I was able to walk all over the stage with only one place where I heard any phasing, but that did not drop the signal at all. (For distance reference, the third picture is from our engineer's station where the transmitter sat.)The only downside that I found was in the initial setup. I did not have the manual handy, so it took a bit to get any sound to the receiver, and when it did I only had the right side. We did get it up and running after a few minutes, but having it default to a mono signal might be more helpful out of the box.Overall, I truly enjoyed using this unit and will be using it again as my go-to over the Sennheiser and even the Shure unit that I have!

Alright I've had this IEM system for a couple weeks now, and I have to say I'm REALLY impressed with it.Up to this point I've been using the PTM-11 system at home, and I've had great luck with it, but that one is a mono system, whereas this PTM-10 is stereo...You wouldn't think you'd notice much, until you listen to something with stereo reverbs or delays, then the difference is HUGE.The build quality of this unit is very good, it feels solid, and I would expect this to perform well under gigging conditions. The front mounted headphone jack with separate volume control is a nice touch, especially if you have it sitting on your desk like I do.I really like how easy it is to select different groups & channels, and then it shows the updated frequency on the screen, which is SUPER helpful if you're trying to sort out wireless gremlins between units. The syncing between the transmitter is seamless & easy...and regarding the transmitter, it is plastic, but the build quality seems good, I've dropped it once and it seems no worse for wear. The sound seems to be very full and “open”, with an emphasis on the upper mids & highs (see gripe below)The PTM-10 comes with a pretty durable case AND with everything you need to rack mount it which is great from a unit in this price range...even with my high-end guitar wireless I had to buy cables to rack mount it.Now, the handful of gripes I have (they are minor).I'm a bass player & I use this system for silent practice monitoring at home, in my opinion this unit is a little lacking in the lower frequencies, and it didn't matter what buds I was using, whether it was the ones that came with the unit, or my high end ones that are used with my bands top dollar IEM system.Another minor gripe is, yes, this unit has XLR combo jack inputs (which are great), but it doesn't have outputs...even my PTM-11 has outputs, but the PTM-11's ins & outs are only 1/4”, so it has some limitations too.And lastly, there is a bit more upper register “hiss” com.

Let me start by saying that several months ago after they first came out I bought the PTM-33 Four Channel IEMs unit For my band.We are a techie band and are continually upgrading our equipment and technology. For purposes of this review I was using the Soundcraft UI 24 digital soundboard, Sennheiser XS wireless microphones, Multiple SM-58 microphones, and both wired and wireless bass and guitar connections. Also at the same time the four channel PTM-10 Wireless IEM system. We are a five piece band and previously we upgraded to the PTM–133 wireless IEMs from wired IEMs (you can see part of it in the picture) . As for us it is very important for each band member to have their own individual mix which they can adjust on the fly as needed not sharing a single “house” mix.I am the drummer and therefore stationary when I play LOL and so is the keyboardist so a wired connection was not a problem. However after reading the reviews and wanting to round out all wireless IEM’s for all band members, and have to deal with one less wire, I decided to buy this system so we are entirely wireless for IEMs.It is definitely a step up in that it’s stereo is a very nice addition.I tested it rehearsing with the band with multiple wireless microphones and four other wireless IEM units ( PTM-33) and Wireless Instrument connections and we had zero issues with connectivity, latency, sound quality, or drop out due to issues in the wireless spectrum.I was actually quite surprised as the environment we practice and also has quite a strong Internet Wi-Fi ( access point on ceiling above) and the soundboard which is the Soundcraft UI 24 has its own onboard Wi-Fi as well.We experienced no issues this was a very big positive. There are a ton more channels to choose from on this unit than the PTM-33 but I found I really didn’t need to mess with that much as I had a solid signal from the get-go.With regards to stereo versus mono I tested them both.Previously when we were wired we listened to a mono mix as.

I've used the units in several different situations/spaces and haven't run into any big problems. I even talked a few other musicians into getting them for their rigs! I may even buy a few more units!I have since also purchased the PTU-2U two-channel true diversity HH mic set and it's been great!Battery life may be the only thing not quite as lasting as advertised, but even then a fresh set gets us through a 4-hour gig no problem (and my guys don't turn them off at set breaks...)Backstory and how I tested:I have the Sennheiser IEM unit and am a firm believer that 'you get what you pay for' with wireless technology. That said, I wanted to get more channels of wireless IEM for my band mates and didn't want to spend $1000/channel (sorry guys.... you're great and all.... ) so I read the reviews, watched videos, etc... Finally decided to bite the bullet and give this set a try. Worst case it was too noisy (main complaint in the reviews) and could be just an absolute last-case option.Received it really quickly. Took it to my jam space, plugged it into power and took one side of my stereo feed (going to the Sennheiser) and plugged it into the Phenyx. I have to tell you, the 'self noise' was negligible, and the same or less than the Sennheiser. moving the headphone cable between the two packs, both playing the same material from the same mix on a console. Played music I was familiar with and there is a very slight difference in overall tone/EQ, but not so much that you wouldn't just end up EQ'ing your mix to suit anyway.Walked into another room (two walls/doors separating) and got some flutters, as is to be expected and similar to the sennheiser.I did NOT use the included buds, as I don't have high hopes for them and already use Ultimate Ears UE11's (and have a set of KZ ZS10Pros as backups). I'll use the included ones as the 'buds of shame' when someone shows up without theirs...SO far, a very successful test. I'll see how it does in a gig environment and update my review.

S
Scott Carleton

I tested in a practice environment, and a live event is the only way to truly know, but so far the unit works as advertised.

I purchased 3rd party (BASN) headphones to get a better sound and was happy with the overall sound quality. Certainly much better than relying on stage monitors alone.

I was using the Aux sends of a Soundcraft Ui12. We used both a stereo mix out plus 2 separate mono mixes with vocals pushed for the 2 different singers. It is a great feature to have the option of a single stereo or 2 different mono sends through one unit.

The only thing to consider is the fact you need to have everything you want to hear mic'd so it goes through your mixer and can be part of the send to the IEM. Otherwise, you end up taking one earbud out to hear things not in the mix.

EQ on or off helped vocals cut through depending on the number of things that are part of the IEM mix(es).

Budget and use permitting, I can see getting a second transmitter with a couple more body packs so we can have up to 4 different mixes going to a combination of 6 different performers.

Overall a solid purchase when you consider cost vs the feature set.

I use this along side the PTM33 with my band, over all, solid unit, stereo makes a world of difference compared to the mono sound. There is a slight noise floor that can be heard when nothing is being played but it doesn’t bother me. The Ptm10 1B does get weird interference from the PTM33 since they are stacked near each other in our rig, however, adjusting the antennas helped and changing frequency channels did as well. My only main gripe about Phenyx Pro is the body packs. They feel super plastic like and thin, I wish they had metal body packs or even a metal body pack to buy separately that would work with their units, as well as detachable and replaceable antennas.Over all works super well, and we will likely get 3 more and retire the PTM 33. You can really beat the price for what these offer.
