Introducing the PS-M1:
A Compact Powered Talkback Monitor Speaker for Clearer Cueing
The PHENYX PRO PS-M1 is a compact powered talkback monitor speaker designed to keep communication clear and connected in recording sessions, stage performances, and live sound workflows. By combining talkback input, cue monitoring, and local playback in one portable unit, it helps teams hear cues and messages clearly and respond at the right moment.

For years, PHENYX PRO has focused on helping musicians, engineers, and live sound teams build audio workflows that are clearer, easier to manage, and more reliable in real working environments. But in studios, rehearsal rooms, and live performance spaces, one part of the workflow is often overlooked: how teams communicate when timing matters.
A missed cue, unclear instruction, or delayed response can interrupt a take, slow down rehearsal, or affect a live performance. Teams need a simple way to stay connected without making the setup more complicated.
That is why PHENYX PRO built the PS-M1, our first professional powered talkback monitor speaker. Designed for recording sessions, rehearsals, stage setups, and live sound workflows, it gives teams a compact communication point for real-time talkback and cue monitoring.
Talkback and Monitoring in One Compact Speaker
The PS-M1 is built around two essential needs in real audio work: helping teams hear cues clearly and deliver messages when timing matters.
For monitoring, users can send audio from a mixer AUX output, playback device, cue source, or other line-level signal into LINE IN. The PS-M1 plays that signal locally, so performers, musicians, or nearby team members can hear cue signals, timing references, playback, or other monitoring sources from the place where they are working.
For talkback, users can connect a microphone to MIC IN and speak through the setup in real time. The MIC DIRECT OUT can send that microphone signal to a mixer, recorder, IEM system, stage monitor, or larger monitoring setup, helping instructions reach the people who need to hear them.
In a studio, this can help connect the control room and tracking space more directly. In live sound or stage-side setups, it gives operators a compact point for cueing, line checks, and performer communication. Together, these two paths make the PS-M1 more than a compact playback speaker—it becomes a dedicated communication point for teams that need to listen, respond, and stay connected across the workflow.

Compact Size, Strong Cueing Power
A talkback monitor speaker is most useful when it can move with the workflow. The PS-M1 measures 150mm × 120mm × 150mm and weighs approximately 1.6kg, making it easy to place beside a mixer, on a desktop workstation, near a performer, or at stage side without taking over the setup.
Despite its compact footprint, the PS-M1 delivers 65W max power, 50W rated power, and a maximum SPL of 115dB. This gives it practical output headroom for spoken cues, playback references, click tracks, and communication signals that need to remain audible in active working environments.
That balance of portability and output makes the PS-M1 useful for setups where space is limited, gear needs to stay flexible, and communication signals still need enough headroom to be heard.

Clear Sound for Cues and Voice
Louder is not enough if the message still sounds muffled. For talkback, cue playback, and rehearsal monitoring, clarity matters more than exaggerated sound.
The PS-M1 is tuned for clear and natural monitoring, helping speech, cue signals, playback references, rhythm cues, and key instrument details come through more clearly. Its 3-inch woven-cone neodymium full-range driver helps support a stable response for the sounds teams rely on during real-time communication.
With 98dB sensitivity and a 100Hz–20kHz frequency response, the PS-M1 helps essential details stay easier to follow in compact working spaces. Whether users are listening for a talkback message, a count-in, a backing track, or a quick rehearsal cue, the goal is simple: make the message easier to understand, not just louder.

Shape the Sound Before It Reaches the Room
Real working spaces can change quickly. A rehearsal may get louder once the full band starts playing. A recording session may need small level changes between takes. A stage-side setup may require quick adjustments so cues or talkback messages remain easy to hear.
The PS-M1 provides onboard Gain, Bass, Treble, and Main volume controls, allowing users to adjust the sound directly from the unit. Gain helps manage the input level, Bass and Treble allow quick tonal shaping, and Main volume controls the overall output.
This gives users a practical way to fine-tune cue playback, talkback, or monitoring sound at the point where it is needed. When the speaker is placed close to the people who rely on it, local control helps communication stay clear as the room changes.

Built to Sit Where Communication Happens
Clear communication depends not only on the signal, but also on where the speaker is placed. The PS-M1 is designed to fit into key points in the workflow where cues, instructions, and quick responses need to stay close to the people doing the work.
In the studio, it can be placed in a tracking space to support communication between the control room and the performer. During rehearsal, it can sit near the band or mixer as a shared reference point. At stage side or a live sound position, it can help keep cueing and coordination closer to the people managing the performance.
The PS-M1 can be placed on a desk, workstation, or mixer table, or mounted on a compatible φ16mm microphone stand to direct sound more effectively. Its ABS cabinet, sealed enclosure structure, and lightweight build make it easy to move, position, and integrate into temporary or space-limited setups.

From Being Heard to Staying Connected
The PS-M1 marks a new step for PHENYX PRO: moving from helping sound be heard to helping teams understand, respond, and stay connected when timing matters.
As a compact powered talkback monitor speaker, the PS-M1 helps fill the communication gap between performers, operators, and the audio systems they rely on. It gives cue signals and talkback messages a dedicated place in the workflow, making real-time communication easier to manage without adding unnecessary complexity.
It can also work alongside PHENYX PRO systems such as the PTI-2 wireless microphone system, PTM-33-4B in-ear monitor system, and PTL-600 audio mixer to support a more complete audio workflow—from performance input to monitoring, cueing, and team communication.
