Brilliant microphone, especially for the price. Today this mic is less than $50. In my opinion it is better than a Shure SM58, and it even comes with a 5M 16ft cable and a zippered pouch. What? For that price, it's crazy good. Keep in mind, it's not comparable to a Neuman LDC or anything like that. It's a $50 mic that sounds better than most $100-$200 mics, if you use it for the correct sources. I've tried it on many sources, guitar cabs, vocals, snare and even kick. It really did well in each scenario. It's a beast. It's not light, it's a heavy mic with metal build quality. The cable isn't the greatest but it's very much usable. Especially considering it's a XLR, so it's balanced connection. This allows for active rejection of noise over the cable. With this in mind, I'm getting very good clean signal with the included cable. Good stuff.Overall, this thing kicks! If you are just starting out or you are a DJ or even for live internet streaming, this is a very workable microphone. You can get 2-4 for the price of another comparable microphone. Yeah. It's that good. Especially when you look at that price. Winning!This model the PM-25S includes an on/off switch. The Phenyx Pro PM-25 does not include a switch. Order the one you need based on which model is a better fit for your needs. I prefer the switch, since I need to control things myself. Not as much of a risk of accidently turning the mic off. That said, for a band, you may want the model without a switch so the performers can't cut the mic off accidently. Just wanted to add that info for anyone who may need it.

While I’m not a microphone expert, I do work a lot with audio and lighting for a local theatre group, so I can claim several years of hands-on experience. I posted a photo of the Phenyx next to a popular well-known mainstream brand just for visual comparison.The tactical feel and quality of construction is on par with the mainstream mic. The mainstream mic does not offer the on/off button - although admittedly with lots of use, that may become a point of failure years down the road.I connected each of these to my amplified 240w JBL 310 speakers and found that the mainstream mic required about 80% gain to get to a sweet spot where I could work with the mic and speaker volumes. The Phenyx only required 50% gain and sounded every bit as good - maybe even a little more crisp.I like that they provided a 16 foot good quality XLR cable. I would have liked to have had a 1/4” adapter as well…or maybe the option to buy it with an XLR or a 1/4” cable.Overall great quality of the mic construction and good value for the money. I like that they provided a carrying pouch big enough for the mic and the cable (not quite enough room for the mic stand receiver - but that would normally be on the mic stand anyway.

First impressions matter, and my first impression of this mic was positive. It comes with a mic clip and cable, and a neat little faux leather bag for storage. And a brand sticker; I suspect the manufacturer is looking to leverage their way out of their current price range and into a place of higher brand recognition.And my next impression is, they're probably going to succeed. The sound quality is perfectly fine, the frequency response like that of an SM-57. My voice sounded as clear as it ever does. Note that it really is a vocal mic, with an on/off switch, probably best suited for small venue live performances.I've tried a few cheaper mics before that were of a similar quality, but most cheaper ones are also noticeably cheaper in quality. I can't speak to its durability, but it feels well-made and it has a bit of heft to it.

I'm judging this Phenyx Pro PM-25S against my current mics which include an SM-58 which looks remarkably like this Phenyx one. There was a little handling noise but then only when turned up which rarely we do in any case. Besides, most of us are nearly always using mic stands. The PM-25S (the S stands for on/off switch) and so, if that's not important to you, then you can save a couple of pounds buying instead the PM-25.It has nice, richer sound which is clear when speaking directly into the mic head. It is a Cardioid mic which cuts out the sounds around exceedingly well. It has a good weight if you are going to hold it, something which gives reassurance to the singer in my opinion. The mic case seemed very cheap and unnecessarily large and the supplied xlr cable was superfluous as I'd much rather use our higher end cables which we have relied on for years.That aside, I suppose it was felt that these things were needed to sell to the karaoke market but this mic is definitely good enough to stand on its own at this price point (currently at review date ￡47.99).
