Another amazing product!! We have had some of the PTU-1U mics and the addition of this is amazing as well! The 2U design helps a lot AND this version with the body pack does not disappoint! The pack is very sturdy made of same metal as the mic casing and is not overly heavy! We pair all of our mics with the PAS-225 antenna distributor and we haven’t had any issues! We will definitely continue to stay with Phenyx Pro for all of our audio needs. When running a live performance stability is extremely important. No-one wants to hear a principle performers mic go in and out. Enter the PTU-2U. Even when the actor was in the green room, which is 2 walls behind the stage, I never saw a dropout on the receiver! This unit is amazing. The bodypack is a little heavier than the 7000 series but once it's clipped on you don't notice it. True diversity is the way to go.

The PTU-2U wireless microphone system is very solid and excellent construction. The handheld and body pack microphones are metal and heavy duty. They will stand up to most abuse they may receive from use. The outputs on the receiver allow either separate XLR balanced outputs for channel A and B or a single TRS outlet that combines both channels into one output. Each channel has separate volume and program controls to allow peak performance from each. The receiver rack mounts easily, and the power supply has a locking tab to keep the port secure. The auto scan function will find a clear frequency to use for each channel. Overall, a very well-designed system.

This is my first set with lapel and headset mics. I've previously used other Phenyx microphones and have been very impressed with both the sound quality and sturdiness of construction which has carried over to this set as well. The mics are very easily paired using infared. Vocal quality is VERY clear with no unnatural added warmth or reverb. My initial test was about four hours with the headset and two hours with the handheld mic and the batteries were still plenty strong. My only wish is that the headset boom was about an inch longer and if there were a wire clip on the headset cord to pin it to clothing as a strain relief. In a crowded bar atmosphere and around a corner, usable distance was about 75 feet from receiver before dropout began to occur; I was unable to test line of sight distances.

The product is great in my opinion. The handheld microphone feels good in your hand, the button feels rugged and durable. The Belt pack microphone is well built, as well. The headset microphone remains to be seen as to its durability and usefulness. The range on both microphones was incredible. Where other microphones fail us with distance and clarity, this microphone performed so well. We were able to use both microphones at distances of over 100 yards with no issues. Phenyx Pro performed better than our Sennheiser and Electra Voice wireless microphones. A unit with 2 handheld microphones would be a better option for us and I'm sure Phenyx Pro has that option available.Ilike the fact the unit is rack mountable too! My only concern is the brightness of the display on the handheld. I could not read it or see it in Sunlight. I worry we may have trouble under stadium lights or Stage lights. The microphone package works great, and I'll be looking for a second handheld microphone to swap out the lavalier microphone in the future as we find them more useful. We use wireless microphones in stadiums with our football broadcasts and always run into problems. I don't see the problems returning with the Phenyx Pro Microphone. I don't think we would need any additional antennas such as paddle antennas either. These two microphones performed superbly for us! A good investment indeed.

Had no problems hooking it up into my rack, and turning on the unit hooking it up right away, worked like a charm, I like that it has a lav and headset for your weddings, or even a simple DJ gig! Recently purchased two wireless mics previously from this company, and the Batteries that came with it had a lot of juice, used it for at least 30 gigs before changing, of course turn off when not using, but all in all this is a great wireless set!

I have used a lot of headset over the years and this is one of the best that I’ve used. Most headsets has a big bump in the upper mid-range, this headset is very warm and sounds good without an eq. I ran it straight into a K15 without a mixer. It sounded GREAT and there wasn't a feedback issue. With that said I was pushing 100db but the volume was louder than I could get out of a similar headsets. I do some church installs and this will be what I suggest to my customers. I don’t know of another unit that sounds this good at this price point.

This is a very durable microphone that can be rack mounted or set on a shelf. It uses IR to set the channel on the handset and body pack, and is very easy to scan the channels. As far as a DJ setup goes you can’t ask for a better setup or ask for one that has more versatility. There are extra handsets and body packs available to configure this however is needed. This is an excellent microphone setup.

I received the ptu 2U just in time for a show I was working sound for. The first two lead singers had Shure Mics, and I was able to put this mic Phenyx Pro on the 3rd singer. There was not much noticeable difference in sound from the Phenyx Pro microphone compared to the Shures, though I did notice when the 3rd vocalist got closer to floor fills and side fills a feedback would start when there was no feedback at all with the Shures when getting near the same areas. This tells me Shure has better feedback rejection on their microphones.I was happy to use the wireless pack and lavaliere on two musicals back to back. I was happy with the signal strength and did not have any issues with audio sound quality.The only issue I had was although the outer casing was a tough metal like case, the clips that hold the door closed are still plastic and somehow the plastic inner clips for the battery door broke on me so I had to tape the battery door closed during shows. It’s past the 30 day return window so I’m not sure what can be done about the door clips breaking on me.Overall I believe the ptu 2U is a great entry level into wireless audio equipment especially for DJs or anyone on a budget. Unfortunately from my experience the build quality still needs improvement.

I own/operate a mobile DJ company in California, and I had an opportunity to review the Phenyx Pro PTU-2U microphone system as part of a company promotion. The system includes a handheld style mic and lav/lapel style mic. Both microphone transmitters are exceptional build quality, metal with durable/solid buttons, clear/bright digital readouts, and simple infrared pairing. The receiver also has a durable metal chassis and clear/bright screens. The microphone is well-packaged, so everything arrived in great condition. Assembly and setup was very easy (as I mentioned infrared pairing was so simple), and the rack-mountable receiver makes this system ideal for mobile DJs. The microphones use two AA batteries each, and four batteries were included. I am picky about my batteries, so I opted to use Duracell batteries instead of the batteries included with the microphone system. The system includes an anti-rolling ring for the handheld microphone, a power adapter for the receiver, four antennas, and a 6.35mm audio cable which allows you to mix the microphone channels through a single input on your soundboard. The receiver also has two XLR outputs which would allow you to split the two microphone channels to separate soundboard channels. You will need to purchase your own XLR cables if you choose to split the signals to separate soundboard channels. For my test of this microphone system, I used the included 6.35mm audio cable through a single channel on my mixer. Range distance during my "driveway" test was very good with no nearby interference, easily covering 90+yards before I experienced any signal cutout with both microphones. In a high-interference environment (a popular local event venue), I paired the microphones to new channels before my sound checks. The handheld microphone performed flawlessly, easily covering the range of the entire venue space. The lav microphone still experienced some interference, and even after channel changes the microphone cut out at ~50 fe.

Bottom line is this is a fantastic unit and VERY reasonably priced. I've owned the PTU-7000 series 4 mic wireless system for a couple of years now and my cover band uses that system every weekend without issue. We're very pleased with the 7000 series but the mics are a bit dark in sound and require some EQ.I needed a dual mic set for a smaller setup and the PTU-2 fits the bill perfectly. Same quality construction as the PTU-7000 series but with advanced features like auto scanning for the best frequency, squelch control, and diversity antennas.I found the microphone capsules to be on par with my reference wired shure sm58 and beta 58. The PTU-2 handheld has an ever so slightly darker / bass tone to them without eq that the shure mics but they are very natural sounding and I was able to get a great tone with minimal eq. As you can see in the eq curve screenshots I've uploaded, the PTU-2 handheld is VERY comparable to the SM58 and Beta 58.I found that if you run the master volume at 5 clicks up from completely off, this gives you the exact same input signal as a standard wired dynamic mic, in that, you would add the same amount of gain at your console. However, I found the "sweet spot" on the master volume to be at the 9 0'clock position.Handling noise is minimal. In a quiet and control environment with no music or vocals into the mic (i.e. handling noise ONLY), I found the PTU-2 mic to be slightly more noisy than the wired SM58 and wired Beta 58. However, the noise level was on par with the Shure GLXD system with an SM58 capsule as well as on par with the PTU-7000 series. My conclusion is you would not notice handling noise at ALL in a live environment. Set your gain staging properly and you'll have no issue here.I've used a LOT of wired and wireless solutions over the years from every major brand and honestly this is one of the best values in wireless mics I've ever run across. Phenyx Pro is making BIG NOISE in the industry ...

Since we do a lot of karaoke system at home, I decided to get this set, but I'm kind of not 100% satisfied. This unit is really pricey since it's wireless and it comes with a reciever. The headset microphone has the highest quality and I can compare that with Rode as well, but handheld mic is horrible. Professional mics will never operate with batteries, but this one does and drains the battery as well. Reciever works fantastic, and it has good range for big areas. Needs some improvements.

This is a pro unit. I am a professional musician and utilize some of the other Phenyx products in that world. This product is great and has the big clear sound that I have come to really enjoy from this company. I didn’t expect the headset to be as great as it is, but it’s so good. I would highly recommend. Grab yourself this setup. You will be happy you did.
