First and foremost, this mixer can easily take on some big names in the audio world. The first things I look for in mixers are portability and build quality.Portability - This isn’t the most portable mixer. Which is fine, it isn’t advertised that way. The housing is all metal which gives it some good weight and it’s large compared to my main A&H mixer.Build - Right off the bat, you can tell this mixer is built like a tank. It has an all metal housing. The knobs, faders and switches are all tight and solid.Performance - the closest “big name” mixer I can compare it to (that I’ve used anyway) is the Yamaha MG12XU. I can say though, that the PTL-800 reigns over the Yamaha. The sound quality is crisp. No more standby hiss than other high end mixers I’ve used. The preamps in the mixer are great. Very responsive and loud.I tested the mixer with a Behringer XM8500 and a QSC k10.2Before switching on the EQ , the signal was already very balanced. The 3 band EQ gives you more than enough flexibility to dial in whatever tone you’re looking for.The Bluetooth connectivity is a nice touch.Easy to setupI do think however, where this mixer misses a little is the FX. Plenty of effects to choose from but they all sound a little too “digital.” Not much can done about that. Reverb is mainly what is but if you dial it back to just where it comes in it sounds perfect. Can’t say much about the other FX.Overall this mixer is definitely a force to be reckoned with. I would definitely use this in a home setup or a karaoke situation in a club, bar, etc.

I got this unit to use at my band’s studio. We are 6 band members and use 4 wireless mics, guitar and drums monitors. Our sound engineer recommended us to give a try on this unit because we already use and love the Phenyx Pro wireless mics. The sound quality is great and it’s super easy to set up and start using. The sub out is a big plus. The unit gives you plenty of volume, flexibility and audio quality. It’s probably one of the best on the market for its price. The Bluetooth feature is also a good addition and easy to pair. Great technology and sturdy material! Overall, I highly recommend this board for studio and live performances.

Definitely a well built mixer for live or DJ use. Solid mic inputs and even able to assign mic inputs to different outputs on aux 1 and aux 2. Will take some time to learn all the features but as far as my testing goes a great value for the money.

I must admit I was a little surprised when I opened this box and lifted out the Phoenix Pro PTL 800. I run a small audio-visual support company and so I’ve had a fair amount of experience with small portable boards like this and the first thing I noticed was this is a bit on the heavy side. I suppose loading in weight is not an advantage, but at 11 pounds neither is this a hardship. It feels like a piece of equipment rather than a toy that you would buy at Kmart.I’ve got some great equipment here and as much as I enjoy high-end toys, this remarkably inexpensive soundboard provides quite a bit for its size and its price. When I spend a thousand dollars or sometimes several on a mixer, I expect all the whistles and bells. For $279 I was expecting a piece of plastic. I should have known better. When Phoenix Pro asked me to review this board, I was willing because I’ve been surprised by their equipment in the past though this is the first time I’ve reviewed any of it. When I send out a tech with one of their wireless mic packages I don’t have any worries they’re built as solid as rocks, they take a beating and I’ve learned to rely on them. Sure there are cheaper a channel mixers out there but they’re not built like these are. This is got all of the whistles and bells that you have to have for live sound and frankly sending this board out to smaller events our risk one of those multi-thousand-dollar boards. Let’s face it moving equipment around things break. This board is probably the best solution I’ve seen in recent years for under $1,000. I could sit here and write about each specific feature but all you have to do is go to a search engine and you can find them. What you won’t be able to find is that this is a nice board to work with. The sliders are smooth it’s got all the EQ you’re going to need and while there’s some things that I wish it had that it doesn’t we’ll talk about that a little bit later. The fact is I already recommended it to a church that’s looking t.

The following is my review of the Phenyx Pro PTL-800 mixer.I have purchased Phenyx Pro wireless gear for my bands for over two years. All the products have worked great. I was excited to use the new PTL-800, as I have been using the PTX-15, and was hoping for a mixer with more channels, which this provides in spades. Before even receiving the mixer, I was excited to see a separate sub-out and multiple sends for getting audio to FX or in-ear monitors.I received the box from Phenyx pro and found the mixer to be a little large for an 8-channel, but the space was needed for the functions per channel. The weight is excellent, making it easy to bring to gigs and the studio. The construction feels sturdy and durable, which gives me confidence that it will hold up over time.Upon setting up the mixer, I found it to be equally effective as a monitor and in the studio, showcasing its versatility and adaptability. When connected to the computer and monitors, the sound was equal to that of my current USB mixer. I would like to see the next model support each channel as input, not just the mains. The sound quality is top-notch when used in the studio as well, and the built-in effects add versatility to my mixing capabilities. The controls are intuitive and easy to understand, making it a breeze to dial in the perfect mix of instruments.Overall, I couldn't be happier with this Phenyx Pro PTL-800 8-channel mixer and would recommend it to anyone in need of a reliable and high-quality mixer for their audio setup.Note: while Phenyx reimbursed me for their product, they have not influenced my review.

What a great audio mixer! I bought this audio mixer to use in a small chapel at church. The six mono inputs and one stereo input provide enough channels for our requirements. As an added bonus, a Bluetooth-capable device can be added to the mixer, providing an additional input. I also like having three main outputs, L, R and Sub, for the speakers. The separate sub output includes a low pass filter to send low frequencies to the subwoofers. Two Aux outputs and a set of Bus outputs are also available. Two stereo headphone jacks are available. Inputs can be XLR or TRS and +48V Phantom Power is optional for each channel. You can use condenser or dynamic mics with ease. A great featured mixer at a lower price range helps the pocketbook.

If you are thinking of starting a home recording business, or like to just record your own music, this is a great first mixing board choice for you. You have 8 different channels as well as XLR inputs. It also provides power so the microphones (some that require) are properly powered. With this board, you and a small band can mix your instruments and vocals just how you like. Use some of the included effects. Best of all, it takes only 1 cable to plug into your Mac or PC to deliver high-fidelity, high-bitrate digital audio. It also provides two headphone out jacks so two people can monitor and listen in real time to the mix.

I recently acquired this 8-channel audio mixer. This audio mixer is fantastic and works exceptionally well. It delivers clear and crisp sound quality, making it a great choice for various audio applications. The mixer seems to be well designed and built with quality materials. It feels sturdy and durable, which is always a plus. For those of us who are new to audio mixing, there is a bit of a learning curve. It took me some time to get the hang of all the features and controls, but once I did, it was smooth sailing. While the mixer is fantastic, I do find it a bit expensive. However, considering its performance and build quality, it might be worth the investment for serious users.Overall, this 8-channel audio mixer is a great piece of equipment. It works well, is well designed, and delivers excellent performance. Despite the higher price and initial learning curve, I would still recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable audio mixer.

Mixer came well packaged and has easy to understand instructions. All volume pots and slides feel tight and smooth. Dsp effects are pretty good. Buttons all feel positive. Has multiple options for equipment. Can also include sound effects with additional usb. Sounds combine great. Tried it out with a guitar and a microphone with great results. Seems to be made with quality materials. I think we will have a lot of fun with this it has multiple options to experiment with.

Excellent mixer! I would have given 5 stars if the USB loopback was a true loopback that was actually usable, and if I could direct bluetooth audio back onto the bus... but, other than that, it does everything that need to do at my church!

It says 8 inputs, but I count 10. Six XLR, or 1/4" inputs for channels 1 - 6, 2 stereo or mono inputs on channel 7/8, the Bluetooth input, and USB input. It also has plenty of outputs. Two XLR Main outputs, a dedicated XLR sub output, two 1/4" Bus outputs, Two Auxiliary sends, an FX send, Two 1/4" headphone outputs, and USB output.I was amazed at how powerful the output was. I didn't use a sub, but the 12" mains were blasting even with the gain at 0. I used a Shure SM58 to test vocals and the built in DSP Effects. I also used a set of Digital Reference drum microphones to see if I could plug in all seven. I required a Balanced 1/4” to XLR Female cable, but I had no other requirements to connect the drum mics. The build quality is solid. The mixer has weight, but does not feel unnecessarily heavy. It has a metal body. The layout feels good and doesn't feel confusing. I didn't have any issues with the sound quality at all. Everything I heard sounded exactly as I expected. My only dislike is that the USB output or recording capability is only stereo (2 channels) not multi-track or 1 to 1 output for each input. I would like to see that mentioned somewhere so that potential buyers are aware up front and not disappointed. Granted, with the output options and a separate interface with the desired number of inputs, one could easily record multiple tracks.I would recommend this for a small band, or maybe a drummer or musician with multiple instruments (keyboards, synths, etc.) looking to control their mix and send their mixed sound to the house or monitor mix, a DJ or live sound / production company for small events, podcasters, maybe even beginner to intermediate voiceover artists.

I'm very impressed with this sound board. I do some mixing on the side, and I was surprised at the breath of features in this budget board. It is well-made and feels sturdy. The Bluetooth is wonderful, and I had a lot of fun with it. Connections were easy to make, and I found everything intuitive. This would be a great addition to any budding sound designer's studio, or would be perfect for a weekend DJ. Impressive!

Got this for my teenage daughter who has really gotten into audio mixing. She's taught herself how to play the piano as well as the guitar and adding this into her system has been pretty remarkable for her and watching her music skills change and adapt as she learns more and more with this has been so cool as a parent. Product wise, from what I've learned this is an incredible deal for all the features this comes packed with. We're not incredibly mixer knowledgeable but we've been very happy with all of the features so far. Quickly connects to an iPhone as well as my gaming desktop. She's been learning how to record songs and what adjustments need to be made. There is a learning curve especially if you aren't familiar with these types of boards but once you figure it out it's unbelievable. Highly recommend.

I got a chance to set this up with other Phenyx pro products and i have to say im very impressed there are a lot of nice features. i set it up for FOH and then as a Monitor mix and works well for both. the EFX are a nice add on.

This mixer is perfect for small bands or for simple recording setups. The audio quality is good, the EQ is flexible enough that you can dial in anything you want it for. Phantom power works great if you need condenser mics, and it's also nice to have a bus output for monitoring when you're using it live with a PA.

I run a small audio-visual support company and so I’ve had a fair amount of experience with small portable boards like this and the first thing I noticed was this is a bit on the heavy side. I suppose loading in weight is not an advantage, but at 11 pounds neither is this a hardship. It feels and performs like a piece of equipment rather than a toy that you would buy at a big box store.

I paired it with the PTU 7000 wireless mic system to record a barbershop quartet, and the sound quality was excellent. The PTL 800 is a nice fit in Phenyx Pro’s largest case which is a bargain at the price , and I couldn’t initially get the USB interface to work for multitrack recording with my DAW. Using the Asio4All Windows driver might resolve this issue.

Overall, it’s a great mixer for its price, and I’ve recommended it to others., might buy another myself.

We are using this mixer for a small sound system in a medium sized meeting space in our church and it has been a great addition. It has so many features packed into a small, solid package and is relatively easy for anyone to use. Not only that, but it sounds great! It would also be great for a home recording studio or for podcasting. We also love the ability to connect to it via Bluetooth, which is a fun little feature.

When I received the PTL-800 and opened the box, I noticed it had a good weight to it. Once I got it unwrapped, I noticed the body of the mixer felt sturdy. I messed with the knobs, buttons and faders testing them out. The faders felt a bit scratchy when adjusting. The knobs felt cheaply made with some wobbling when used. The buttons felt good when pressed on and off. The mute buttons LED seemed very dim when the mute button was pressed. The Bluetooth function was nice. I was able to pair my iPhone quickly with ease. The headphone amplifiers had plenty of power and volume when used with sound isolating in ear monitors. It was also nice to see a BT to main knob so the signal could be boosted or raised.I was interested in the USB recording function. There was not much information about it in the manual or online. The first thing to note is it only sends the main bus to the USB. Bluetooth audio was sent to the USB output also. Each channel that is assigned to the main output will go too. I was able to record using Garage Band and Presonus Studio One on my MacBook Pro. I was also able to record to my iPad Pro using Garage Band. I did find that there was a small difference in signal level when recording. The playback level was lower in volume. This is a nice feature for someone wanting to record a band rehearsal. I could not see myself using this as a live show recording feature. The channel strip contains Gain, EQ, Aux send and Fx send. The most impressive point for this board is that every microphone input has a dedicated phantom power supply. Most boards of this size and price only have one global phantom power button. The microphone gain is sufficient and the high pass filter in a nice feature as well. The EQ section has an EQ in button. The EQ is ok. I think making the midrange more parametric like with a frequency sweep and viable Q would make the EQ section stronger. The 2 aux sends are good. One is Pre/post selectable if you don’t need monitors. The Effects are dece.
